List of all Navratri days, the Ghatasthapana Muhurat, and the required rituals for Chaitra Navratri in 2023

List of all Navratri days, the Ghatasthapana Muhurat, and the required rituals for Chaitra Navratri in 2023

according to Vedic astrology The Hindu festival of Navratri, which lasts nine nights, is observed by Indians throughout the fall. There are four seasonal Navratris in tradition. After the monsoon season, people observe the well-known Sharada or Shardiya Navratri in honour of the Divine Feminine Devi. The Ghatasthapana Muhurta and the Sandhi Puja Muhurta are the two muhurtas that are most regularly observed during Shardiya Navratri. Because Hindus observe Ghatasthapana and Sandhi Puja at Shardiya Navratri, Chaitra Navratri 2023 is significant.

The divine feminine Devi is honoured during the Navratri puja, also known as Vasanta Navratri (Durga). During the Navratri festival, devotees revere Goddess Durga in her nine manifestations. The Sanskrit term vacant, which denotes spring, serves as the name for this Navratri. It takes place in the lunar month of Chaitra (March–April, post-winter). Some locations experience the occurrence after the spring season, while others experience it after the harvest. According to the Vikram Samvat calendar, it is also the first day of the Hindu calendar, making it the start of the Hindu New Year.

Chaitra Navratri's importance

On Chaitra Navratri, devotees honour the goddess Durga, who is revered as the epitome of femininity in Hinduism. She is Shakti, the universe's most powerful feminine energy. As a result, Hindu worshippers attach enormous importance to this day. Great prosperity and luck are brought by the Navratri Puja. Nonetheless, those who seek Lady Durga's favour must follow to a couple of her laws to the letter. Aarti, cleanliness, severe fasting without the eating of grains, and the ritualistic Ghatsthapana are a few examples.

According to the Ramayana, during the Chaitra month, Lord Rama dedicated devotion to Devi Durga. Many think that the advantages of this worship enabled him to win the battle against Ravana. As a result, Chaitra Navratri is grandly celebrated all throughout India, but especially in the northern states of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. In southern states like Andhra Pradesh, the festival begins with Ugadi, whereas in Maharashtra, it starts with Gudi Padwa.

Following certain rituals during Kalash Sthapana puja

March and April are frequently the beginning months of Chaitra Navratri. The majority of individuals prefer to do Kalash Sthapana puja at their residences and places of employment. Even a priest is appointed to perform the Kalash puja ceremonies, and a Kalash is kept at the place of worship. Ghatasthapana is one of the most important Navratri customs. It marks the beginning of the festivities. During the first day of the celebrations, people participate in the Ghatasthapana. In the Ghatasthapana ritual, participants plant barley seeds in a Kalash that has been blessed with holy water. There is an ideal way to install a Kalash on the first day of Navratri.

As per the best astrologer

1. Get up early and take a shower because that is the first thing you need to do in the morning.

2. After cleaning the idols, one must then clean the area where the Kalash will be kept.

3. After reciting Lord Ganesha's mantras, a red cloth is placed over a wooden seat. Next, uncooked rice is placed on top of the red cloth.

4. The Kalash should now be placed on the ground with some water added.

5. Make a swastika with the vermillion paste and attach a sacred string to the Kalash's neck.

6. Keep some mango leaves, betelnuts, and coins inside the Kalash.

7. Now take a coconut and bind it with a holy thread and a red Chunari. Place this coconut on the Kalash and pray to the all-powerful Lord there.

8. Offer the gods flowers and honour them with a holy heart and spirit.

9. The Kalash Sthapana puja is thought to have the power to enhance our life's prosperity, wealth, and health.

Chaitra Navratri 2023 timetable

In terms of Muhurta, the third day of the current Pratipada (i.e., for 24 minutes) may be the best or Shubh time to perform Ghatasthapana. If for some reason the due date is missed, the ritual may still be performed during the Abhijit Muhurata.

On Chaitra Navratri 2023, the 48-minute window in the middle of the day known as the Abhijit Muhurat is favourable. It is the eighth of the 15 Muhurats that occur between sunrise and dusk. The time between dawn and night is divided into fifteen equal segments, with the Abhijit Muhurat designating their centre. People hold that the muhurta is good for starting or initiating fortunate events because they believe it to be strong enough to remove numerous karma doshas.

Brahma Muhurat

When doing Ghatasthapana, Choghadiya (Muhurat) must be kept in mind. The scriptures advise staying away from the Choghadiya Muhurat when Ghatasthapana is in effect. When practising Ghatastapana during Shardiya Navratri, it may be fortunate if the Dwi-Swabhav Lagna Kanya rules at dawn. Ghathastapnan is not authorised in the afternoon, at night, or after sixteen Ghatis have passed before daybreak.

The Ashtami and Dashmi puja ritual

Invite nine young women to your home. These nine youthful ladies represent the nine various celestial incarnations of Lady Durga. After performing puja for them and giving them delicious food, you should give them gifts and seek their blessings.

On the tenth day of Chaitra Navratri, perform the same puja you had been doing for the previous nine days. After the puja, sprinkling water from the Kalash throughout the house's rooms and crevices is recommended. You need to feed the Akshat birds the food you put on the lid of the Kalash. The barley seeds you sown in the garden need to be planted beneath a tree.

After nine days of Navratri puja, people dedicate the tenth day to Visarjan, or Ma Durga's departure. Do the traditional pooja, as you did over the nine days of Navratri. After the puja, distribute the Kalash water throughout the house. Feed birds with the rice you had kept on the Kalash lid. The barley seeds would have expanded significantly during the course of ten days. Place them in the yard beneath a tree.

During Chaitra Navratri, fasting

Popular foods to eat during the Navratri fast include Sabudana Vada (also known as Sago Vada), Sabudana Khichadi (also known as Sago Khichadi), Singhare Ka Halwa (also known as Water Chestnut Flour Halwa), Kuttu Ki Poori (also known as Grass Seed Flour or Buckwheat Poori), and Singhare Ke Pakore.

Advantages of fasting

We should take some time to unwind, reflect, and reenergize during Navratri. Also, it is a time that is vibrant and full of rituals, songs, and dancing. Fasting during Navratri aids the inner journey towards joy and bliss.

1. It increases awareness, makes you happy, and calms your mind. According to Ayurveda, fasting reactivates the digestive fire.

2. An increase in the digestive fire burns the body's poisons.

3. As the body's poisons are expelled, it no longer feels dull and sluggish.

4. As the body's poisons are expelled, it no longer feels dull and sluggish.

5. All of the cells in the body have undergone renewal.

6. Fasting is therefore a potent therapy to cleanse our bodies.

7. Because the body and mind are so closely entwined when the body is cleansed, the mind also becomes more tranquil and at peace.
